Dear Old Plank Christian Academy Families:
As many of you are aware, OPCA is continuing to experience COVID issues. As of this date, two students (one in our Middle and one in our High School divisions) have tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, a number of students who were in direct contact with these students have been quarantined per the CDC and Department of Education guidelines.
Due to the widespread outbreak of Covid-19 in our local area, Old Plank Christian Academy will implement a temporary “common area” mask requirement for ALL students (K5 – 12) effective immediately.
All students will be required to wear some type of facial covering in all common areas while transitioning to various areas on campus. Common areas include hallways, restrooms, office, etc.) Students may remove this covering while seated at his/her desk. Faculty and Staff will be asked to wear a facial covering while in common areas as well. Students will continue to be encouraged to practice proper hand sanitation throughout the school day. K3 – K4 students are encouraged to wear a facial covering but will not be required to do so at this time.
While we recognize that there are different opinions with regards to facial coverings, our concern is for the health and well being of our students, families, faculty and staff. Our sincere desire is to be able to continue on-campus learning and to place the health and safety of all OPCA students as a priority.
Lastly, due to the current Covid-19 issues and outbreak, we believe it in the best interest of all OPCA students and families that we continue the Distance Learning plan that was instituted in the first semester of this year. Students and families with health concerns may continue to be enrolled in Distance Learning for the third quarter. ALL Distance Learning must be approved by OPCA administration. Please contact the school office by Friday, January 15, 2021.
We are praying for wisdom as we navigate these unusual times. Please pray for those that are sick and that Covid-19 will be a thing of the past soon!
God bless you and your family.
